Failure Essay
This is an essay I did for English I.
Numerous books, songs, quotes, and movies are embedded with the theme of failure strengthening a person. It's the popular tale of the underdog, shown in fiction and nonfiction. Inspirational, this theme has been proven true time and time again. It's no fantasy that through the fire of failure a person can be molded into a mighty sword of strength by allowing constructive criticism to improve themselves and having determination as demonstrated by J.K. Rowling and Bethany Hamilton.
Failures are the rough draft before the final draft of success, a lesson well-known by internationally acclaimed author J.K. Rowling. Denied publication of her hit Harry Potter series multiple times, she saw failure through the mindset of a learning opportunity. Using their rejections constructively, Rowling gained improvement and strength leading her to the prize of success. Her efforts were fruitful and profitable as today, Harry Potter has brought joy to many through books, movies, and a theme park.
While criticism paves the road to success and strength, determination is the driving force which will take you there. Bethany Hamilton, a professional surfer, lost her arm to a shark, seemingly ending her career. True ambition, however, is not easily lost. Working hard to overcome the harsh obstacles, Hamilton grew stronger day by day and is now back to competing professionally. Determination and perseverance build character which can become an unstoppable force of power and strength.
People are strengthened by failure. To soar through the air one must first jump from the ground. Everyone must start from the bottom with failures to get to the top. As they strengthen their wings to fly as they get through each failure with constructive criticism and determination.
